We’re looking for a Junior Coffee Roaster to join the roasting team at El Bueno Coffee Roasters. This role is suited for someone passionate about coffee and eager to learn the craft of roasting, quality evaluation, and production operations.

You will work closely with senior roasters and the café team to ensure consistent roasting, quality control, and smooth production workflows. This is a hands-on role where curiosity, discipline, and attention to detail matter as much as technical skill.

Role & Responsibilities

Roasting Support

• Assist senior roasters in day-to-day roasting operations

• Maintain roasting logs and production records

• Support roast profiling and consistency checks

Green Coffee Inventory Management

• Help with green coffee receiving, storage, and inventory tracking

• Assist in sample roasting and quality assessment

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of green coffee storage areas

Coffee Cupping/ Profiling

• Participate in regular cupping sessions

• Record tasting notes and flavour observations

• Contribute feedback that supports roast profile improvements

Production & Dispatch

• Assist with grinding, weighing, and packaging roasted coffee

• Ensure accuracy and consistency in order preparation

• Support smooth dispatch and production timelines

Learning & Skill Development

• Work alongside senior roasters to understand roast development

• Learn sensory evaluation and coffee flavour profiling

• Build knowledge of brewing methods and how roasting impacts flavour

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Coordinate with café, training, and wholesale teams when required

• Support product knowledge and coffee education initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• Prior barista or café experience is helpful but not mandatory

As a barista, you will be responsible for preparing coffee with precision, maintaining high standards of service, and representing the culture of specialty coffee at the café level.

Role & Responsibilities

Coffee Preparation

• Prepare espresso-based beverages such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, flat white, and americano

• Brew manual coffees using methods such as pour-over, AeroPress, French press, or other café brewing setups

• Follow established brewing recipes to ensure consistency and quality

Customer Experience

• Engage with guests and guide them through the coffee menu when needed

• Maintain a welcoming and professional café environment

• Deliver service that reflects care, attention, and hospitality

Equipment & Station Management

• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment

• Monitor grind adjustments and brewing parameters during service

• Ensure the coffee bar remains clean, organised, and service-ready

Café Operations

• Assist with daily opening and closing procedures

• Monitor stock levels of coffee, milk, and brewing supplies

• Support smooth service during busy hours

Coffee Knowledge & Learning

• Develop an understanding of coffee origins, flavour profiles, and brewing techniques

• Participate in training sessions organised by the café or roasting partner

• Continue improving coffee skills and product knowledge
