Ānai Kādu - Pottamkulam Estate

Nestled in the village of Maldare in Coorg, Karnataka, Anai Kadu is a bio-diverse coffee estate located alongside a reserve forest. Surrounded by rich natural biodiversity, the estate is deeply connected to the land and wildlife that thrive around it.

The plantation primarily cultivates Robusta coffee, including CxR varietals as well as heritage Robusta/Peradeniya plants that are over 60 years old. Small quantities of Arabica are also grown on the estate. Anai Kadu produces both specialty and commercial grade coffees, experimenting with a range of processing methods including natural, fermented natural, honey sun-dried, and washed coffees.

Alongside coffee, black pepper is cultivated as the estate’s secondary crop.

Living so close to the forest brings frequent encounters with wildlife, especially elephants, which inspired the name “Anai Kadu” — translating to “Elephant Jungle.” The name also draws inspiration from the founders’ daughter, Anaika, making it deeply personal to the family and the land they call home.

At its core, Anai Kadu is driven by a mission to bring recognition to the coffees grown on the estate and establish its produce as a name people remember and appreciate.
